Christmas Decoration Refurbishment and Additions

Cockburn Gateway Shopping City sought to elevate their Christmas displays while maximising the use of existing assets. With some decorations nearing the end of their lifecycle and redevelopment plans under consideration, the challenge was to enhance the festive experience without unnecessary expenditure. Through the Christmas decoration refurbishment, and a large addition of greenery throughout the centre, we achieved an effective and striking addition to the centre’s assets.

To accomplish this, we implemented a multi-faceted strategy:

• Introduction of Entry Statement Displays: We introduced ground level feature displays for the main entry point of the centre. These large-scale, interactive light displays provided visual impact, setting the festive atmosphere for the whole centre and providing an engaging, photo-opportunity for shoppers. Hiring these displays has enabled the centre to change the displays from year to year, providing a fresh look and feel. Displays have included:
  • Sleigh and Reindeer
  • Giant Reindeer Arch
  • Candy Cane Arch
• Santa Set Enhancement: We reimagined the Santa Set creating a lush green, forest themed area. We introduced striking new decorations whilst utilising components from the existing Santa set that were still in good condition. The centre wanted to increase the use of traditional Christmas décor so we developed a set with a green, red and gold palette. The additional decorations included:
  • traditional evergreen Christmas trees of various heights, decorated in warm white lighting and a gold star topping the tree
  • a perimeter of green hedging and gold fencing that featured lit stars
  • a striking, gold arch backdrop behind the existing throne that continued the star and warm white lighting themes
  • grassed areas that housed beautiful gold reindeers and white and gold gift boxes.
• Embellishments to Existing Decorations: We added additional elements, including more traditional greenery to some of the ceiling displays providing visual cohesion with the new Santa set. By redesigning and making small modifications we were able to extended the life of the client’s decorations, ensuring a refreshed look without significant new investment.
• Bespoke Gift Wrapping Booths: We produced custom designed gift wrapping booths which were decorated to ensure they blended seamlessly with the overall Christmas aesthetic and were provided on a hire basis.

Results & Benefits

• Enhanced Visual Appeal: The upgrades transformed the centre’s Christmas experience, reinforcing its position as a major festive destination.
• Cost Savings: By modifying installation requirements and reusing existing elements, we optimised costs while delivering a fresh and engaging display.
• Flexible & Scalable Solutions: The use of hire decorations allowed for adaptable designs that could evolve with the centre’s future redevelopment plans.

Our partnership with Cockburn Gateway demonstrates how a strategic blend of repurposed elements, hired statement pieces, and design enhancements can revitalise a shopping centre’s Christmas displays while maintaining cost efficiency. By balancing tradition with innovation, we ensured a memorable festive experience for shoppers and retailers alike.
