Galleria Shopping Centre is a major retail destination in Perth, catering to a diverse community of shoppers. The centre places strong emphasis on seasonal campaigns and experiential retail, using large-scale decorations and activations to enhance customer engagement and create reasons for repeat visitation during the busy Christmas period.
The Brief
For the 2023 season, the brief was to deliver a visually striking and engaging Santa Set that would act as the focal point of the centre’s Christmas offering.
In 2025, the brief evolved due to redevelopment works taking place within the centre. This created new spatial constraints and required:
- Relocation of the Santa Set to a different position within the centre and adaptation to a lower ceiling height
- Adjustments to surrounding decorations in response to restricted access zones
- Maintaining a consistent festive atmosphere throughout the centre
A flexible solution was required to ensure the centre felt festive, despite spatial and operational limitations.
Our Solution
In 2023, a large-scale Santa Set was delivered featuring a dramatic backdrop – a 6m tall illuminated reindeer, complemented by extensive festive décor throughout the centre. This included:
- Decorative garlands and wreaths installed across key mall areas
- Floor displays that added depth and visual interest throughout the centre
- A cohesive styling approach that connected the Santa Set to the wider retail environment
For 2025, both the Santa Set and surrounding decorations were carefully adapted to align with redevelopment constraints.
Santa Set Adjustments
- The set was relocated to a new position within the centre
- The original 6m reindeer backdrop was replaced with two 4m illuminated reindeer, positioned either side of the throne
- The revised layout was designed to suit the reduced ceiling height while maintaining visual impact
- The hire-based solution allowed for flexibility and efficient adaptation to the changing environment
Centre Decoration Adaptations
- Garlands and wreaths were repositioned and selectively installed to prioritise high-traffic, accessible areas
- Decorative elements were used strategically to guide customers through open pathways and maintain continuity of experience
- The overall styling ensured that, despite redevelopment works, the centre retained a consistent and immersive festive atmosphere
Outcome
Across the years, the Galleria Christmas installations have successfully delivered strong visual impact, customer engagement and a cohesive festive experience, while adapting to changing site conditions.
In 2023/2024, the large-scale Santa Set featuring the 6m illuminated reindeer created a striking focal point that drew attention from across the centre. This was complemented by the extensive use of garlands, wreaths and floor displays, which together established a seamless and immersive festive environment. The cohesive design enhanced the overall Christmas atmosphere and positioned the Santa experience as a key seasonal destination within the centre.
In 2025, despite the challenges presented by redevelopment works, the installation continued to deliver a high-quality customer experience through thoughtful adaptation. The relocation of the Santa Set, paired with the introduction of two 4m illuminated reindeer, ensured the display remained visually impactful within a reduced ceiling height. At the same time, garlands and wreaths were carefully repositioned and refined to prioritise accessible areas, ensuring the centre retained a festive and welcoming atmosphere.
Overall, the project demonstrated the effectiveness of a flexible, hire-based approach, enabling the design to evolve in response to environmental constraints without compromising quality. While the 2023/2024 installation showcased scale and immersive impact, the 2025 execution highlighted adaptability and resilience, ensuring that Galleria maintained a strong festive presence and positive customer experience throughout a period of significant change.
