The Brief
The objective of this project was to develop a visually engaging and festive Santa set that could serve as a central attraction during the Christmas trading period. The experience needed to appeal strongly to families and children, delivering the magic of a traditional Christmas environment. It was essential to deliver an attractive backdrop for high-quality Santa photography, while ensuring the layout supported safe, efficient visitor flow and smooth day-to-day operations. Overall, the brief required a balanced solution that combined creativity, comfort, and operational practicality within the shopping centre.

Our Solution

A fully themed, turn-key Santa set was delivered using a colourful toyshop concept. The design combined playful, child-friendly elements with classic Christmas styling, including red and gold tones, greenery, and illuminated décor.

Key features included:

  • Backdrops & Framing:
    A custom timber-look backdrop created a warm and neutral setting for photos, reducing visual distractions and minimising light interference from the nearby mall entry. Pre-lit garlands framed the space, enhancing consistency and festive appeal.
  • Seating & Comfort:
    A gold throne with plush red upholstery and matching stools provided a welcoming and flexible seating arrangement, allowing families to choose their preferred proximity to Santa.
  • Set Elements & Atmosphere:
    Timber-look flooring ensured durability while maintaining visual cohesion. A decorated archway created a strong entry statement, complemented by Christmas trees, nutcrackers, planter boxes, garlands, and toy-themed props to deliver an immersive environment.
  • Operational Enhancements:
    A branded photography desk supported seamless operations, while entry signage and year signage improved wayfinding and photo consistency. All structural elements over 1m in height were engineered and certified for safety compliance.
  • Installation & Logistics:
    The full-service solution included out-of-hours installation and removal, handled by experienced technicians to minimise disruption and ensure optimal layout, flow, and presentation.

Outcome

The Santa set successfully delivered a vibrant, engaging, and high-performing Christmas activation that resonated strongly with families. It created a focal point within the centre, enhanced the overall customer experience, and supported increased seasonal engagement and foot traffic.

Following multiple successful years of hire, Settlement City Shopping Centre made a strategic investment in 2025 to purchase the Santa set, recognising its value as a long-term asset.
